Dr. David R. Stemp

Dr. David R Stemp is a 5th generation Tacoma native.  He has been in practice here at Cascade Chiropractic and Massage since 1998.  For several years he worked with his mother and fellow chiropractor Dr. Susan Strobel.  Recently Dr. David has begun working closely with his father and fellow chiropractor Dr. Larry Stemp.  Dr. David also has a twin brother who is a practicing chiropractor in nearby Lakewood.  Chiropractic runs deep in the Stemp family and has allowed Dr. David the opportunity to hone his practice skills along side two of the most gifted chiropractors in the area.

Growing up in a Chiropractic family meant life was a bit different from his friends.  Dr. David’s parents understood that health was not to be taken for granted.  They made sure he and his brothers ate a very natural diet, got plenty of exercise, and practiced positive thinking.  The rewards of their chiropractic lifestyle were plentiful.  Dr. David and his brothers didn’t get the “normal” childhood diseases; no ear infections, no asthma, no anxiety or hyperactivity disorders.  This also meant no need to take drugs, no need to visit the medical doctor, and no missed days of school.  Dr. David has taken those lessons and passed them on to his own family as well as the patients he cares for each and every day.

Dr. David married his college sweetheart , Katie, in 1999. Together they have two beautiful boys, Danny and Jonas.  The boys attend school in Fircrest where Dr. David is active in the PTA, Kiwanis, local politics, and the Fircrest Golf Club.  He also keeps busy with swimming, biking, hiking, camping, golfing, and anything his kids are up to.  Dr. David attended Clover Park High, Central Washington University, and Life University in Atlanta, Georgia.

Dr. David feels very strongly that chiropractic is the future of healthcare.  Chiropractors are the champions of the wellness lifestyle model.  Dr. David has spent hundreds of hours in postgraduate classes learning to simplify the message of wellness and the chiropractic lifestyle.  He regularly puts on wellness workshops in the office to help patients harness their health potential.  He has also spent countless hours learning techniques in adjusting everyone from the newborn baby to the 97-year-old great grandmother.

My name is Lorie and I have been with this office for almost eleven years.  Some of my job duties include scheduling your appointments, billing and account receivables, and taking x-rays.  I truly enjoy working with Dr. Stemp, Mike and Julie, and all of the wonderful people I meet every day.  We consider ourselves family.

I have two children.  My son Mickel is almost 13 and my daughter Jazmyn is almost 3.  My son enjoys video games and acting.  His favorite class is drama.  He had a little taste of fame when he shot a commercial for Toyota this summer.  Jazzy loves being a princess and has quite an imagination. She loves music and dancing.  She’ll dance to any kind of music, even one from a shampoo commercial!  She is just like mom!  Loves to shop, wear high heels, carry purses, and cook!  Both of my children are learning to speak Korean.  I am Korean and Hawaiian.  My mother never taught me the language, so I too am trying to learn.

Myron and I have been happily “not married” for over ten years.  We still manage to keep it all together, from carpooling the kids and working, to our weekly date nights.  This has been an ongoing tradition for us since we first met.  And with two kids, it’s something we both look forward to.  A nice dinner alone to catch up on the weeks events.

Dr. Michael J. Enstad

Dr. Enstad is new to the Pacific Northwest but has found a new home here.  He is originally from Minnesota, where most of his immediate family lives, so he enjoys the more mild weather and the fresh seafood.  Dr. Enstad is also a recent graduate from Northwestern Health Sciences University, a chiropractic college in Bloomington, Minnesota, where he graduated with a Doctorate in Chiropractic and a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology with Magna cum Laude honors.  Before attending chiropractic college, Dr. Enstad completed his undergraduate studies at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, and Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato, Minnesota.

Dr. Enstad first became interested in the chiropractic profession while he was in high school.  Following a collision during soccer practice, he had severe back pain and decided to go see the chiropractor that his mother had been seeing for low back issues.  After about two or three treatments, he felt as good as new and knew that there was something to chiropractic.  He began talking with the doctor who had been treating him and learned about the natural, hands on, let the body heal itself, approach to chiropractic.  This appealed greatly to Dr. Enstad and, after learning more about the side affects of drugs and surgery in his undergraduate studies, he decided that being a chiropractor was a perfect fit.  Since then, it’s been as rewarding and exciting as he had hoped.

Dr. Enstad and his high school sweetheart Megan were married in 2007.  Megan works as an early elementary school teacher at a private school in Lakewood and comes home everyday with some good stories.  After just over two years of marriage, Dr. Enstad and his wife found out that they were going to have a baby, which is due in the spring of 2010.  Besides being a chiropractor, Dr. Enstad likes to follow his home state sports teams and sports in general.  He also enjoys participating in sports such as basketball, soccer, hiking, football, softball, and ultimate Frisbee.

Dr. Enstad firmly believes that chiropractic is essential to the health and well-being of all people.  He believes that chiropractic care is able to assist the body in fighting off infection, disease, mechanical disturbances, and most of life’s ailments.  He believes this because chiropractic is able to relieve stress to the nervous system so that the brain and body are better able to communicate with one another leading to a more balanced, healthy lifestyle.  He sincerely hopes that as the years pass by, more and more people will get introduced to the all-natural healing ability of chiropractic.
